Filter Selection Guide:
For maximum flow use with 1-1/2" ID tubing.
The selection guide above matches the pond size with the recommended filter model. There is no harm in using a filter that has a greater filtration capacity for your pond size.
Selecting the right pump size:
Some flow can be lost through the filter. According to Tetra: "The water flow may be diminished by approximately 40% by the resistance caused by the pressure filter. A pump that is capable of pumping 1000 gph (at the height of the pressure filter inlet) may result in a flow of 600 gph from the filter to the pond. Keep this in mind when selecting the proper pump size."
For these pressurized filters it is best to stay away from high pressure pumps such as "Waterfall pumps" or pumps with high head rates. Tetra recommends the DHP-3600 for the BP1500 and the DHP-4200 for the BP2500 and BP4000 models.

Important Note:
It is important not to exceed the recommended flow through the filter. Exceeding the recommended flow rate, could cause leaking or possible damage. A Ball valve can be used if necessary to regulate water to the filter.
